PALOS VERDES AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
The Palos Verdes Amateur Radio Club has been serving the amateur radio community of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and South Bay since 1975. The Club supports public service events, emergency communication activities, and offers amateur radio licensing classes with scheduled licensing examination sessions. The Club actively participates in operating events that include ARRL Field Day and International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend, and has conducted nearly annual mini-DXpeditions to Catalina Island for many years. The Club also conducts continuing education and discussion sessions, including a monthly meeting devoted to HF operation and question and answer sessions prior to each monthly meeting for newly licensed hams and those interested in learning more about amateur radio, including DMR operation. Club membership is open to all individuals interested in amateur radio, and visitors are welcome

THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DX CLUB
Now in its 73rd year, the Southern California DX Club is a special interest club for those interested in worldwide communication using amateur radio. Monthly meetings are open to all amateur radio operators
and interested visitors.
Since its founding in 1947, the Southern California DX Club has been the premier DX club in the area. Some of the founding members of the organization were not only pioneers in amateur radio, but in radio itself. The SCDXC has a long and varied history including its remarkable 54-year relationship with the Northern California DX Club. In cooperation with one another, these two clubs have brought the DX community The International DX Convention, which is the benchmark by which all other DX conventions are measured.
Today, the club boasts dynamic leadership, an active contesting contingent, and a large percentage of members on the ARRL’s DXCC Honor Roll. The Club’s longstanding commitment to further the art of DXing continues to be pursued by its dedicated membership.

The Long Beach Repeater Associates (LBRA) was created 40 years ago when a repeater was bought and installed on Signal Hill. There are now 3 repeaters. All three are open repeaters, and they are designated as emergency repeaters. They have been used for emergency communications for ARES for many years. The 2 meter repeater was used for many years for the communications for the Long Beach Marathon.
The frequencies are:
449.780 MHz (-) PL 131.8 / 146.145 MHz (+) PL 156.7 / 223.800 MHz (-) PL 156.7
When not in use for emergency communications, these are family repeaters. You are invited to use them, but be aware that there are regularly scheduled nets on these repeaters and they have priority over incidental traffic. If you would like to hold nets on any of these repeaters, please contact Bill Bradley, WD6FON (wd6fon@arrl.net)
to schedule your net(s).
Currently, we have ARES nets at the following times.
Tuesday, at 6:30 pm on 146.145 MHz
Thursday, at 6:30 pm on 449.780 MHz
Thursday, at 6:45 pm on 223.800 MHz
Our monthly club meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month at the Spires Restaurant, on the NW corner of the intersection of Cherry Ave and Del Amo Blvd. In Long Beach.
We meet at about 6:00 pm for dinner with a meeting starting at 7:00 pm.
All visitors are welcome.
